As far as I know, Russian employers like people with US education. However, you probably don't speak Russian, so that would be a major challenge

About Which city is a better place to work for an embassy:moscow or St.petersburg

Which city is a better place to work for an embassy:moscow or St.petersburg?
I plan to work in a filipino embassy in Moscow or St.petersburg since that is the only cities where there are filipino embassies. Also, I would like to take a doctorate degree in either of the 2 best universities in Russia after finishing my bachelors here in US, St.petersburg State University or Moscow State University

Answer 1 :
I do not know, that to you to answer... Some like St.-Petersburg, another like Moscow. In Moscow a rhythm of a life much faster, than in Petersburg. So, if you do not like to go very quickly it is better to you to choose Petersburg.
Answer 2 :
In my opinion, St. Petersburg is better place to live then Moscow. St. Petersburg is very beautiful and more safe.
Answer 3 :
I've graduated from Moscow State University that is why I have my crush on it. :) Everything depends on what gonna be your major - some subjects better taught in Moscow, some in Petersburg. Frankly speaking I think Petersburg might be a better choice for you. I am sure the Consulate you are going to work at in Petersburg is a small place - couple of diplomats and technical staff - that is why it should be a very homey place. Embassy would be more busy in Moscow. Petersburg is more "culturally-orientated" city when Moscow looks like a huge market place for me now. It is a matter of personal taste though.
Answer 4 :
St. Petersburg is a small town compared to Moscow. A very nice looking town, but sooooo cold. Low temperatures plus high humidity... I would never ever move to Peter.
Answer 5 :
St. Petersburg is better, of course. It's gorgeous and beautiful. I've chosen it when left Irkutsk, Moscow was also an option. It's better to travel to Moscow from time to time. Moscow is pressing people mentally. And physically.
Answer 6 :
Dear friend! Surely you choose, but let me tell you a few things. Moscow is a big city, a capital. There are so many different nationalities, that you do not even understand who is a foreigner. Yes, Moscow is a fast city,a business city. Also it's situated in hills, that's why there is a lot of sun and summers are wonderful. There is a normal humidity, good to breath. Flats are much more comfortable, but yes, prices are higher. Universities are much better, knowledge is deeper and everyone in the world knows Moscow's university. St.Petersburg was a big swamp before and even if new days it's a beautiful city, the beauty is only visual. The climate is HORRIBLE. Winds and coldness are always there, since the sea is around. Humidity is high, many rains and no sun for months..... Depression is everywhere because of such a weather. And yes, many racists are there. Also transport system is very bad, except of metro. Flats are often not at all good. And people.... People are unfriendly, what to say. Guys, without hurts, it's the truth. Also rarely people can speak any good English. Good luck! I hope, you choose the best place! Thank you

About What are good areas to live in near/ in St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Florida

What are good areas to live in near/ in St. Petersburg and Clearwater, Florida?
I'll be working in downtown St. Petersburg but I'm not sure if that is where I should look for an apartment. Basically I'm looking to rent something reasonly priced in a safe, nice area and ideally I wouldn't want to have a really long commute. I 'm going to visit soon but I wanted to get some more ideas of different places to check out first because I keep hearing bad things about the apartment complexes in those two cities (drugs, bad management, etc).. So any information about neighborhoods and nearby cities would be really helpful, thanks. Also, Tampa might be an area that I would consider if I didn't have to commute too far, is it a good place to live?

Answer 1 :
Try Ibor City. You'll like it!!
Answer 2 :
St.Petersburf. No doubt. Clearwater gets flooded all the time especially during hurricanes. I reccomend not to live in Florida. There are too many hurricanes and not enough places to go to.
Answer 3 :
Do not go looking in South St Pete, you will never be seen again. There are lots of spots, clearwater is much safer in my opinion, plus its closer to Tampa nightlife. On any of the beaches is good, but not to reasonably priced this time of year. Try rent.com they have ratings and reviews from people, thats how I found my apt. in tampa.
Answer 4 :
I lived in St. Pete/Clearwater for 15 years. The best place to live is on 4th St. North...there are a lot of reasonably-priced, nice apartments there, and the commute is fast on Hwy 275. You are close to the Howard Franklin Bridge, which means you can get to Tampa quickly, too. Try eating at the Coney Island restaurant in downtown St. Pete on 9th St. They have the best chili dogs in the world there! I loved living there, and I hope you do too!
Answer 5 :
I live in Safety Harbor, and it really is a lovely town. You're really close to St. Pete and Clearwater, there's tons of nice apartments, lots of school incase you decide to stay. It's got a nice small-town feel to it without being in the middle of nowhere. Downtown Safety Harbor is beautiful, lots of tiny shops, and a lovely pier. I moved here when I was 10 and I love it!
Answer 6 :
I live there. Stay north of central ave in St Pete, there are nicer areas about 20 miles north IMO (or on the Gulf side of Pinellas) as far as price if you pay at least $700- 900 a month for an apt it should be a pretty good complex
Answer 7 :
I don't think there are any good areas to live in Florida. Crime here is crazy. I'm on my way out of here!
Answer 8 :
In the business area, pricey, the Public transportation, good. There is an area called, Gulfport, nice, off !9. When you visit, take a real good look. I made a big mistake when I came here. Wound up in Pasco, NOT!!!! Now loving on Indian Rocks Beach. About 1/2 hour from St. Pete. Good Luck

About How far are Tampa, Clearwater, and Bradenton from St. Petersburg, Florida

How far are Tampa, Clearwater, and Bradenton from St. Petersburg, Florida?
Hi, I'm going to move soon in St. Petersburg, Florida, and I'd like to know how long does it take to drive from St. Petersburg to Tampa, Clearwater, and Bradenton. I'd like to know this to make sure the commute between these cities wouldn't take too long. Is there a lot of traffic between these cities? Do you think it's easy to live in St. Petersburg and work in Tampa? or is it too far? Thank you in advance :-)
Commuting - 8 Answers
People's Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
Answer 1 :
Go use Yahoo maps.
Answer 2 :
i believe that st. petersburg and clearwater are 5 mi.from one another but clearwater is an island as well. it may take more time to cross to the island.
Answer 3 :
Many people commute from St. Pete to Tampa. Travel times will depend on what time of day it is. 30 minutes to an hour. It's a reasonable commute. Clearwater and Bradenton are about the same travel times.
Answer 4 :
You can go on the web site "mapquest" and it will tell you how far ea is.
Answer 5 :
Tampa is 30 minutes from St. Petes. Not it is not too far to drive, people make that drive every day. With work traffic it may take 45 minutes. Just go 275S, It'll take you straight there.
Answer 6 :
St Pete and Clearwater are in Pinellas County which is a peninsula just west of Tampa, which is in Hillsbourough County (with Tampa Bay in between the 2 counties) St Pete to Tampa is about 35 mins- to over an hour depending on what part of Tampa you're going to and the time of day. Clearwater to Tampa is about the same. St Pete is directly south of Clearwater . They are pretty close in some parts (5-10 mins) but since both are good sized cities, from south St Pete to N Clearwater would take about 40-50 minutes. Bradenton is in Manatee County, and is about 40 minutes south of Clearwater and 20-25 south of St Pete with the Gulf of Mexico in between. The only practical way to go between is the Skyway Bridge, a toll road- used to be $1 each way, and that is one of the few ways to get there. Traffic is very heavy in those areas and gets worse at rush hour. Once you live there a while, you'll get to know the flow of the traffic and leaving 10 minutes later or earlier can make a HUGE difference in the amount of traffic and length of your commute. If you had a really good job, it might be worth it; otherwise, it is too far imho. If you want to work in Tampa, it would probably be better to live in Hillsborough County, Brandon seems to be nicer and lots going on and good shopping. I think the pay scale and opportunities in Tampa would for the most part be better. The saying about St Pete is "newly weds and nearly deads" because it has LOTS of retiree's and is cheaper, so newlyweds can afford it. Downtown St Pete is run down and scary; St Pete Beach is beautiful- guess it depends on where you live :-) Hope this helps, I lived there for 20 years, left in 2002. Good luck to you.
Answer 7 :
Wow, such strange answers. St Pete touches Clearwater. Bradenton is across the Skyway bridge from St Pete and Tampa is across the Gandy bridge from St Pete. Tampa is also across the Howard Frankland and Courtney Campbell Causeway from Clearwater. Lots of people live on one side of a bridge and work on the other, but the real question is how far from the bridge you're going to live or work. If you live far from the bridge and work far from the bridge, you'll be stuck in a couple hours traffic if you work 8 to 5, but probably less than an hour if you work odd hours. Welcome to Florida.
Answer 8 :
The most central location to live between Tampa and St. Petersburg is an area called Feather Sound. Check out this link for some detailed information on the area: http://www.city-data.com/city/Feather-Sound-Florida.html

About s it safe to work and live in St. Petersburg, Russia or in a Russian Country

s it safe to work and live in St. Petersburg, Russia or in a Russian Country?
Greetings! I'm from Asia and I would like to seek advice if it is safe to work and live in St. Petersburg, Russia or in a Russian Country. A family is interested to hire me as a nanny to their kids. Since, I was thinking that it is a communist country. Should I continue with the application? I think they're nice but theres difference with the people and their culture. Can anyone help me and give me some good and appropriate advice? Thank you very much. :)

Answer 1 :
It's not a very safe country. I would avoid it.
Answer 2 :
If your life is important to you, don't ever go there!!!
Answer 3 :
First, Russia has not been a "communist" country for the last 20+ years - where have you been ? St Petersburg is a beautiful city and exciting place to be, however it is quite expensive. Also, it is very different from the rest of the country. The lifestyle and people's attitudes are different. I wouldn't recommend going to the countryside. There is no place on Earth that is 100% safe. Is it safe to work and live in your Asian country ? Like in many other places around the world, people are cautios of foreigners, so if you decide to come, just take an effort to learn about the culture and don't expect any special treatment. If you speak the language and respect the culture, you shouldn't have any problems

Answer 1 :
If you can speak Russian then you can try sites www.rdw.ru www.hh.ru www.job.ru www.rabota.ru PS Why in the American company?
Answer 2 :
Sweety that depends of your job experience. And how good you can speak russian. You can try web sites such as http://hh.ru http://joblist.ru You can also send your CV to sergey@toplivu.net But before you do it check http://toplivu.net If you interested in my company maybe we can sort out your problem with job.
Answer 3 :
You and plenty other people. Someday soon the real world will introduce itself and it will not be a pleasant experience. Having a degree in business and being able to speak both languages is a good start but you still need many other things to happen before you land a coveted position. For instance, your English is not up to a business standard. If you have experience in M&A and perhaps a masters in accounting you might land a job at a Big Four shop in Piter. Its just this way because there is no demand for your skills these days, sorry.

About Does Tracefone work in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater BEACH area

Does Tracefone work in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater BEACH area?
My family and I are going to the St Pete Beach/Clearwater area and our cell phone provider does not get service in that area. Im looking for the cheapest pre-paid phone possible because we will only be using it for 5 days. If Tracfone does not work in this area, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Virgin also offer cheap handsets but Im not sure what would give me more bang for my buck. Do any of these come with minutes? If anybody knows anything about these prepaid phones your information is greatly appreciated.

ask at a church.... they have cleaning needs and yard mowing and such.....
Answer 2 :
Try the ads for housing on Craigslist in the Tampa Bay area. http://tampa.craigslist.org/apa/ You can place your own ad for free saying what you are looking for under "housing wanted."
Answer 3 :
I'd look for a job as a caretaker on someone's property. Often that position requires a diversity of skills and offers accommodations on site, so you wouldn't even need a car. Also try seasonal jobs at resorts or vacation spots

Answer 1 :
yes, it's possible. the transit system there is decent. Hartline is the main provider but there are a couple smaller systems serving the general area as well. it will ultimately come down to which section of St. Petersburg you reside in and where you work in Tampa as to how well the service works for you. Generally there is a fair amount of service running into Tampa in the morning and out in the evening. Good Luck! And check the Hartline website for specific route details as soon as you know your exact origins & destinations
